Southwest Bend
The shops, restaurants and riverfront of the Old Mill District and the summer concerts at the Hayden Homes Amphitheater are a walk away, and so are the canal trail and the Deschutes River Trail. The Parkway is minutes from the door, Mt. Bachelor about twenty-five minutes, Redmond’s airport thirty.
The living room
Wide-plank wood floors, high ceilings and a stone gas fireplace under a timber mantel; sliding barn doors open the living room onto the dining room and the kitchen island beyond. The parlor off the front hall is a quieter room for reading or a day’s work.
Out back
The back deck runs along the house, with a long table, loungers and a gas grill, and the pines keep it shaded through the afternoon.
The fire pit
At the back of the lot, among the trees, is a fire pit with log seats and a small wood stove, and there is usually firewood to get you started. The yard is fenced; dogs are welcome in the backyard by pre-approval.
Warm, spacious and well equipped with everything we needed. Wonderful stay. Felt away from it all yet super convenient. Loved sitting out back and walking to the canal and river.
Upstairs
A cathedral ceiling, an armoire, a reading chair by the window and a bathroom with a double vanity and a walk-in slate shower with a rain head. Two more bedrooms and a full bath share the landing, and the laundry room is upstairs, where the clothes are.
The family room
Recliners, a 55-inch TV (streaming, no cable), a DVD player and a desk, so one half of the house can watch the game while the other half reads by the fire.
Very spacious, comfortable house with a first rate kitchen, lovely living room, large bedrooms and two bonus dens/family rooms. It is located close to beautiful walking trails along the Deschutes River.

From your hosts
We have hosted Wapiti Haven ourselves since 2017. For your stay the house is yours: every yard, deck and porch, and the garage, with its opener, so your car sleeps indoors. Before we confirm a stay we ask our standard questions, who is coming, how many cars, any dogs, because this is a quiet cul-de-sac with good neighbors and we would like to keep it that way.
One honest note: the amphitheater is close enough that you will hear the concerts on summer nights. Most guests count that as a feature.

Getting here
Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) is about thirty minutes; Portland is three hours over the pass. The Bend Parkway is minutes away, so Mt. Bachelor, Sunriver and the Cascade Lakes are an easy drive. Park in the attached two-car garage (you will have the opener) or in the driveway.
